What started off as entertainment and fun on the personal computer has become a big business today. With over 6 million people logging on to Gaming sites, PC and Console gaming is becoming a big business in itself. Innovative companies are now designing and creating new technologies just for gaming. The Playstation, XBox are among the leading gadgets in this space.

Sony's Playstation 2 is giving serious competition to the other products in the market. Poised to release the advanced next generation Playstation 3 soon, Sony is happy that the PS2 is also doing well. Before the PS3 hits the markets Sony wants to bring out an affordable and more compact version of the Playstation 2.
What is so great about another version of the playstation 2? How is it different from the existing playstation? That is where the trick is. The new versioin is one with an in-builit power supply. So what you may ask? The costs reduce due to this added feature... manufacturers can embed the powersupply within the unit and the whole process becomes economical. And since the PS3 is coming out soon, new versions of PS2 will be priced cheap and much below the existing PS2. Isn't that a bargain... no I'd say it is a steal...
Poised for launch in 2008, the new Playstation II will be prices at about $99 (Rs.3,960) in US and the same price cuts will be passed on to customers worldwide. In UK the price is expected to be about £75 (Rs.6,160).
Once this cost effective, economical PS2 hits the market, Xbox and Wii will be forced to lower their price too. It is good for the gaming community that their favourite gadgets are becoming more affordable. Good for the manufacturers too because with higher sales volumes their cash registers will continue to ring and profits will be rolling in.
