Zombies are one topic that never ceases to excite the popular imagination. So to see Left 4 Dead do well on the sales front is hardly surprising. But do this well! Valve has announced that this survival horror title has now sold 2.5 million units at retail – counting both Xbox 360 and PC versions. To make the feat even more impressive, these sales figures are only for retail; Steam figures probably have their own little story. Michael Booth, Valve’s project lead, reported the figures and still kept cards close to chest. Left 4 Dead relies heavily on its multi-player element and provides different people different experiences, each time they play. This has to be one of the deciding factors behind the title’s success. Also, I suspect that Valve’s fifty per cent off weekend might have to do a little with sales as well. Still 2.5 million is good number to report I guess. And as we are on the topic, MS has announced that the free-to-download survival pack for Left 4 Dead will be available on April 21.
