What does a gamer who has cooling issues on his Xbox 360 do? He/she either runs to Microsoft for a replacement or alternatively decides to come up with an innovative home brewed solution. A console gamer who calls himself the Fallback has chosen the DIY way to come up with an innovative cooling mod for the Microsoft Xbox 360. For this, he has used pretty low tech material that's easily available in the hardware store down the street. Four Thermaltake Mobile II External USB Cooling Fans that cost $8 each are shoehorned onto two surfaces of Xbox 360. These fans which do the main cooling duty are mounted onto a half inch thick piece of wood along with the Xbox 360. The entire set-up is put together by a staple gun and some duct tape. Power to the fans is supplied by a USB hub and the to turn the hub on and off, you can include a power strip with a switch. The best part of this entire DIY cooling solution is that it doesn't void the Xbox's warranty as it is an external add-on that can easily be detached.
