Adult Gamers
Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) carried out a study recently. It shows that adults spend more time than teens playing games!!
The results are:
a) 33% of adult gamers spend 10 hours or more per week playing console or PC games and teens just 11%
b) 11% of teen gamers play PC or console games 10 hours or more week
c) More 12-14 year olds spend more time gaming than 15-17 year olds
d) 58% of homes with consoles consider it their primary game platform
e) 25% of adults used handhelds in the last 6 months
f) 64% of adults play alone
g) 55% of adults play online
h) 5 times more teens play MMORPGs than adults especially women
i) 77% of teens used handhelds in the last 6 months
j) 78% of teen males play online games
k) 58% of teen females play online games
l) Women outnumber men due to high rate of online games between the bracket of 25-34 years of age, which contains the largest concentration of female gamers, about 29% of the age bracket.
The CEA Study also analyzed and concluded that adults will buy 19 million Next Generation consoles the first year!
So, when adults are gaming, especially parents, kids wouldn't have to try out too hard to get home their favourite console or game home, isn't it? It is good news all round. The kids love it, even more the adults and the retailers, manufacturers are smiling all the way to the bank and they can hope to continue this in the future as well.
