Ikhwan Nazri Mohamad Asran, a Malaysian student of digital media has created this application with a view to use modern technology to connect young Muslims to their faith. This program, for the first time, makes it possible to read the holy book on PSPs. People can simply download this program which displays Qu'ran in Arabic script and read it with the help of simple illustrations. A similar program that lets you read Bible inspired this Malaysian student, studying at Malaysia's Multimedia University, south of Kuala Lumpur.

Here is what he had to say:

They did the Bible, so why not do the Quran. ... This application can help younger people to read the Quran.

For some parents, when we talk about the Internet, all they see is porn, the bad things. When we talk about the PlayStation, all they see is gaming and spending too much time not studying. A mother can say, 'Read the Quran first and then I'll let you play games'.

Like he said, it is a good idea for the parents and they will welcome any move, which will take their kids away from the violent and bloody games that the market is so full of. Ikhwan, about to graduate this year, created the software, with 10 student volunteers, in four months - beginning in January.

The software will be available for download May 19 onwards on his website.
