Michael Donnelly was in for some rude surprise when Blizzard filed a class action case against him in March. Donnelly had created the MMO Glider program, which performs tasks such as fighting and looting in the game. Blizzard felt the software infringes upon copyrights. However, Donnelly differed and said he did not copy the WoW client software. This was countered by Blizzard, which is of the opinion that it does infringe the copyrights as the software copies the game into RAM and can’t be detected by anti-cheat software. Predictably, the court sided with Blizzard and Donnelly was accused of infringing copyrights of other games.
