Do you remember the late 80’s side scrolling action game, called Bionic Commando? It starred a lead character with a bionic arm capable of acting like a grappling hook the game was something of a hit when it was released back in the day.

Capcom has announced that it is developing its next-generation Bionic Commando for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms.

Capcom has partnered with an unnamed ‘American producer,’ ‘Japanese creative advisor’ and Swedish studio GRIN to develop an all-new Bionic Commando on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The new game retails the original grappling hook gameplay and it also improves the bionic arm to enable the throwing of large objects and heavy hitting melee combat.

The plot of the game follows Nathan Spencer, a government operative and the titular Bionic Commando, who has been falsely imprisoned for three years after having been betrayed by his superiors.

Recently, GRIN is mostly unknown because they have been responsible for porting Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and its sequel from to PC. The update Capcom comes with a new story, ditching the nameless hero from the original in favor of ‘technologically enhanced agent’, Nathan Spencer. Capcom is promising to deliver an epic ruined city, which provides an engaging environment of towering buildings, suspended roadways and monorails, deep canyons and sheer rock faces that allow gamers to traverse each area via multiple routes using swinging, grappling, climbing and wall- walking techniques.
