Games publishers are ignoring piracy, and failing to recognize that it has a significant effect on sales & it is high time they combat the billion Euro threats of CD/DVD ‘Rip & Burn’ and illegal peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing.
While Film & Music industry in the Entertainment sector is attempting to gain control over illegal file sharing through court cases against individuals and companies, the gaming industry is not taking any major steps to enrich their content protection strategies. Microsoft, Take Two and EA are the most frequently downloaded companies of late, thanks to Halo 2, GTA: SA and Battlefield 2.
