The X360 Family Times would be available for download from next month, which will allow parents to set daily or weekly limits on how much their children can play on the console. When the players approach the limit, they will automatically get a warning. When they will cross the limit, the console will automatically shuts off.

Microsoft has unveiled a lower-priced X360 Arcade model which skips a hard-drive but includes a handful of casual games like Pac-Man and Uno. This movement comes ahead of an important holiday selling season with consoles from Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft all now in volume production.

Microsoft is also coming with family contract, called PACT, which is intended to foster family discussion about screen time guidelines. Members of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) will receive information on the essentials of the campaign that encourages a balanced approach to interactive media use and families to come to an agreement on how their children spend their screen time.

Robbie Bach, president of Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices stated that the company is hoping to make the Xbox 360 attractive to a broader range of customers than its traditional base. Microsoft is also involved in the terms of game development, improving the console, additions of its XBox Live online gaming and new types of peripherals.
