Cops blinded and turned into zombies by anti-game psycho(logist)

Though there is not even a shred of evidence that violent games spawn violent minds; thousand of policemen are being made to believe a story that is opposite to the truth and based on opinions.

This is mainly due to one man, who has made eradicating violent games from our lives as his sole objective in his life.

Lt Col Dave Grossman the most in demand speaker and trainer of security forces, law enforcement agencies and other similar agencies and academies. He is an ex-Army Ranger and West Point psychology professor, who has been delivering speeches 300 days a year since 2001.

One of his key sermons is - 'violent media and video games are the largest single threat to modern civilization.'

Not surprisingly, he is founder and director of the Killology Research Group, a police and military consultancy. Following the Columbine massacre, he's become one of the most aggressive crusaders against gaming.

According to him,

FPS are 'murder simulators' that not only desensitize players from the psychological ramifications of killing, but also teach the mechanics of killing.

Chief David Hiller, national vice president for the Fraternal Order of Police, the world's largest police organization says;

Are we cognizant that these games are out there and they have a big influence over our youth? Absolutely! Remember, these kids are being rewarded for pulling the trigger and killing people.

However, what is distressing is that Hiller said some officers search for violent video games at crime scenes to present as evidence at trial. Goodness mine!

But opinions are divided on this, sanity still prevails fortunately. Thomas J. Aveni, co-founder of The Police Policy Studies Council, a law-enforcement training and consulting company, says;

Grossman is misguided to draw a definitive link between media violence and real violence. He does perpetuate misconceptions among police.
