CrossOver Games going DirectX 10

For us PC gamers, Windows is the Mecca of Games. If there’s one thing that Mac and Linux lack then it is the availability of a wide range of gaming titles. CodeWeavers’ CrossOver Games was a valid option only till DirectX 10 was released, as its current version supports Direct X 9 games only. Revealing details about CodeWeavers’ future plans, founder and CEO, Jeremy White said that they are ‘getting ready to move on DirectX 10.’

CrossOver currently supports good number of games and introduction of DirectX 10 will only make its catalogue stronger. As of now, number of games tested is around 180 and out of those 22 are marked with Silver Medal and two are rated as Bronze, rest are tagged as Honourable Mention. Silver Medal is awarded to the games that have been tested and work pretty well, but still have a few bugs to be sorted out, and Bronze ones probably have a few more bugs than Silver ones. CodeWeavers promise to address problems related to Silver and Bronze marked games and plans to make their performance better in future releases, whereas Honourable Mentions are not supported and will not be supported in further releases.

CrossOver is a great option but as one can tell its not flawless and hardcore gamers will surely give such a thing a slip till it supports majority of games without any bugs. But if you are a casual gamer and your favourite game makes it to the list then you can buy it for $39.95. Both Mac (Intel based) and Linux versions are similarly priced.
