David Jaffe still an integral part of Sony

Earlier, the rumor blew around the net claiming David Jaffe is planning to leave SCEA. Jaffe, who has directed God of War, created the Twisted Metal series, and has recently finished a PS3 exclusive title Calling All Cars, is rumored to work independently with opening a new studio of his own in Utah. The gaming site 1Up has alleged that David Jaffe is no longer a part of SCEA internal team.

The basis of rumor is Jaffe's talk with Incognito's head Scott Campbell, about setting up a new studio, based in Utah.

If the rumor turns true, it would be a significant subtraction from SCEA's creative team. He has given rise to many futuristic games; 'God of War II' is the recent example that has come out as a defining title for PS2.

When Sony was asked concerning the matter, they commented that there is no twist in Sony and Jaffe's relationship. Later, over NeoGAF forums, Jaffe himself established that there is nothing like that, some people have made it an issue, for no reason. He said that he is still employed in Sony as creative director of Sony Santa Monica. Here is what Jaffe has to say:

I can promise you guys I am still part of SCEA...I just got a paycheck from them! I am still 100% a Sony employee and unless I got fired today and they didn't tell me, I'm still working for them. Also, I love working with the guys at Incog and hope to work with them for a long, long time but I sure as shit ain't moving to Utah...nice as it is, I don't think I could live there long term and I don't think the good people of Utah would want me to.

As of now, no one knows what Jaffe is planning; the time will bring the cat out of bag.
