If any publisher is to be watched in the third quarter of 2009, it is undoubtedly Deep Silver (and Activison, and EA). At GDC 2009 the wares that Deep Silver has put on display are exciting to say the very least. Deep Silver’s lineup for Q3 includes three biggies: Risen (for Xbox 360 and PC), Cursed Mountain (for Wii), and Duke Nukem: Critical Mass (for PSP and DS). To elaborate, Risen is a RPG with amazingly detailed environs. It supposedly offers a lot of freedom to explore and play any which way. The most exciting title (at least for me) promised by Deep Silver is Cursed Mountain on Wii. Yeah a serious game for this console is in lines! This “survival horror” genre title takes players on to a haunted mountain (actually the Himalayas). Finally there’s Duke Nukem: Critical Mass – a part of the Duke Nukem Trilogy – for the handhelds. This title will deliver Duke on PSP and DS in identical storylines. On the former platform, the title is an out and out 3D person action shooter, while on DS it is a side-scrolling platformer. And if all this hasn’t got you interested in Deep Silver’s activities then nothing else can!
