A rumor was in the air last week conveying Epic Games wants to port Gears of War to the PS3. As all of you know that GOW is Epic’s Xbox360 exclusive title, and a landmark of strong relationship between Epic and Microsoft. Though there was no official confirmation, the news ‘Gears coming to PS3’ kept the gamers vigilant. Simultaneously, another rumor was running talking about PS3 version of Bioshock. However, Sony didn’t reply, but Microsoft didn’t delay and commented on the post of writer, who started the rumor, and here is what Epic’s VP Mark Rein writes in response:
This story is complete bull****. I emailed the site and asked them to take it down. We’re very happy with our relationship with Microsoft. If it weren’t for them Gears wouldn’t be the huge hit it has become.
Everyone can easily make it out from Rein’s abovementioned quote that either Gears is coming to PS3 or not. Not only that it also shows a great love (We’re very happy with our relationship with Microsoft) for Microsoft.
Though, sometimes these kinda news falls flat on my mind, because whenever Microsoft Game Studio is publishing a game, it does mean that the game is carrying a Microsoft IP, so a Microsoft Game Studios game will never appear on any other system.
Rein has disentangled the Guardian-knot that was getting more and more inept, with time. Even I had started thinking of PS3 version of PS3, but it’s clear that the game is not going to work on your PS3. NO doubt, in many cases, Gears has been a major reason for scoring an Xbox360, and could be for PS3, as well but Microsoft won’t let it go to PS3.
