ESRB Hiring Full-Time Game content Reviewers

Did you know the truth behind ESRB's game rating system, it previously used to have? If you get acquainted with self-regulatory organization's rating system that how it rates different games, then you will trust ESRB's ratings no more because the whole process of rating was totally voluntary i.e. the part time volunteers were employed to rate the various games.

How the organization previously used to work?

To rate the games, the organization used to hire some volunteers (much like the film industry's rating system totally voluntary) who with or without playing games submit their reports to ESRB. ERBS officials says that no one have that much time to play game so they employ some volunteers who have a great experience with children. Hence, the games were rated in such manner, previously.

But now the time for a change has come. The organization has started hiring full time content raters so as to shun all loopholes in rating system.

(I think a little credit goes to me as well :-), because I did a post in Dec month pointing some flaws in ESRB ratings)

After months of careful consideration, the ESRB is preparing to switch from part-time to full-time raters, this April.

How will new organism influence current Rating-system?

Deploying full-time raters will allow each rater to spend more and more time reviewing content and recommending ratings. This would provide each rater with a greater sense of historical parity for ratings, and how it should be measured from a ratings point of view.

The full-time raters would be fully responsible for play-testing the final versions of the game, time-permitting, which would allow for ESRB to play-test a greater number of games than it currently does.

So the revised rating system will be more helpful to the parents buying games for their kids and buy a videogame for their kids, with poise.
