Few days before, a news floated that the rating delivered to the video games by ESRB really help parents to buy a video game for their kids. All the games are rated by ESRB; a non-profit organization by giving them different rating like T means the games for Teen gamers, M-matured gamers who are grown-up, E-everyone, etc, etc.

The thing to ponder upon is how the organization evaluates the hundreds and thousands of games in the gaming market and categorize them in different slabs. ESRB chief Patricia Vance disclosed the whole phenomenon and says that our rating system is also analogous to the film industry as the film industry rats the different movies, in the same manner ESRB gets its job done. What the organization literally does is it picks a group of adult part time raters from the metropolitan area in US who are good at the child psychology and can flawlessly interpret the moves of children. And instead of going through the whole video game the organization allots these video games to the raters and the raters after going through whole video clips interprets out how the video game could affect the gamers' psyche.
The ESRB further added that the video games are rated on the basis of content of the game like amount of violence, sex scenes, bloodsheds, etc.
All the video games follow the same rating decorum strongly. If we talk about the disputed game called Grand Auto Theft then the organization head gives a slip and says that the T-rating given to the game was due to the obscure behavior on the part of game developer.
But there are still many unsolved questions that call for answer like does the organization's job get done with rating the video games? Even after having awarded the various games with M-rating you can stop the just retailers from selling the M-rated games to the teen gamers and even the retailers are also showing a quite obliging approach on their parts but aren't really the teen gamers playing M-rated games? The parents of teen gamers say the same thing that if they harshly stop their children from playing the games not meant for them, they'd still find an alternative to play them. So with distinguishing the video games is a panacea not at all!
