European Union approved what could be considered as one of the biggest mergers in recent times and something that could have long lasting impact in the foreseeable future in the world of gaming. The mad and ever-altering world of fiction and games is a constant motion to win over more fans. At the end of the day, the gaming giants look for the loyal gaming fans that will come back to the game every time and stay as marks for life. Both Activision and Vivendi will now try to club their existing fan base to make sure that they make a viable gaming empire for future.

The complex deal will give Vivendi a 52 percent stake in a new industry giant called Activision Blizzard with annual revenue of $3.8 billion, rivaling that of Electronic Arts Inc, the world's biggest independent game publisher. This without a shadow of a doubt is going to make a huge impact in the next few years and might very well eat in to the market of the rivals.

Activision is riding high on the success of games such as "Guitar Hero," "Call of Duty" and "Tony Hawk" but has lacked an offering in the online role-playing area, dominated by "World of Warcraft" from Vivendi's Blizzard Entertainment. But by no means does this mean that we are heading for a monopoly as many big firms like Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft will be giving more than just tough competitions in the years to come. So what does this deal mean for the average gaming Joe? Well, just better deals with the future games and hopefully cheaper consoles with passage of time. It is all good news!
