European Union to bring stringent rules on sale of killer video games

Do killer games kill children? Do the violent video games rob innocence from the children and make them cruel in their domestic lives? If it were not, then a video game-addicted 18-year-old German would have not assaulted 11 students before killing himself last year.

Considering the gravity of the situation, the European Union has now decided to bring stringent rules on the sale of violent computer games across the continent, though the 27-member bloc have divided on the introduction of common standards in this regard.

Disclosing EU's decision, German justice minister Brigitte Zypries said,

There is broad consensus that much more needs to be done' in fighting violent computer and video games across Europe.

The European Commission is now considering to frame a list of common sanctions against retailers selling violent video games to children.

The member states will decide which games to come under the purview of sanctions in their countries, the EU said.
