If you think Microsoft is the only manufacturer who sorts out all the problems of its customers; you need to reconsider it. Even, I know the reason behind your wrong perception; MS is offering three-year warranty to the Xbox360 consoles. Bitter truth is that the offering is nothing more than greasing the palms of the console owners.
In the flawed game, Microsoft has admitted that all the 11.6 million Xbox360s sold in the last 19 months are faulty. The flaw is familiarized ‘Three Red Rings of Death.’ Microsoft has said that all the consoles suffer from a design flaw, which causes the machine to fail. However, Microsoft declined to detail the problems causing a ‘hardware failures,’ but said that it will extend the warranty on the consoles to three years (no generosity at all).
The heat-sink design is said to be the culprit that results in system failure.
Deception aftermaths:
• The flaw is another setback (after low sales) to Microsoft that will route the software giant in the next-gen war.
• The repair work will cost MS about USS$1.05bn-US$1.15bn to get it fixed.
• The glitch has earned a lot of disgrace to the company and consequences are no more unfamiliar i.e. a nose-dive in both, company share value as well as Xbox360 sales.
• The big blunder can fetch lawsuits to the company from the Xbox360 owners who are being betrayed with damaged console.
• Xbox360 needs an immediate price-drop (that it has denied earlier in E3 Expo) to get things in order, which will bring an additional economic load to the developer.
I think, in order to get its console sold like a candy in the rival-free market during holiday season, Microsoft launched an immature console with a big flaw lingered within.
Whatever, I like the way Microsoft stands behind its product and is taking responsibility to repair/replace any Xbox360 console that experiences three flashing red rings of death glitch within three years from time someone scores one.
