In this musical game, the player or 2 players (the game can be played in the single player as well as multiplayer mode but with 2 players only) have to shoot off rockets past a trigger line using the red, yellow, blue, and green buttons on the Xbox 360 controller synchronizing with the beats of a popular musical track. The four buttons correspond to rockets of the same color and to gain more points it is important that you press the correct button as the rocket approaches the trigger line. Gamers can choose from 10 musical tracks that have been composed by Ian Livingstone.

There are 3 levels of play: Normal, Speed and multiplayer head-to-head.

Normal is for kids and beginners, Speed and Multiplayer are for the experienced or champion gamers. The musical tracks also have three skill levels. You can get to a bonus mode also where you can score more points for each successful hit but for this you have to fill up the bonus meter with a series of successful hits.

Gamers are full of enthusiasm for this game as can be seen from this video featuring an amazing individual playing the game blindfolded and with great accuracy:

Spencer Brooks, Electronic Arts' Boom Boom Rocket Producer, had this to say:

The joint effort between the Pogo.com creative team and the talented team at Bizarre Creations evolved the idea into what the game plays like today. Seeing people's response to the game itself has been such a great experience - it's what making games is all about. We're so excited to give Xbox LIVE Arcade fans this new game and have had so much fun playing it ourselves - you can't help but have fun playing this game.

Play Boom Boom Rocket and light up the skies!
