ps3

The Sony PS3 is already one hot game/entertainment console and it is all set to get further pimped up with the latest firmware update 2.2 in a bid to introduce a whole load of ultra cool features. To start off, with the BD-LIVE you can directly access the Blu-ray movies like the “6th day” and “walk hard” as they release. Copying your photo and music playlists onto your playstation portable is now possible with the BD-LIVE. The PSP connection continues with one more feature which lets you control the PS3’s music using the PSP like a remote. One very hot, new feature is the “Resume Play” with which you can directly start off from where you left, even if the disc is not in the PS3. Other nice touches are the faster web browser and “mosquito noise reduction” for movie playback. But, by tailoring all these features to suit only Sony products, Sony, as always, is trying to establish a stranglehold over the entire entertainment of the PS3 consumer, which in my opinion might not prove too fruitful as a consumer always will like to have choices. And Sony is restricting the consumer’s choice by trying to monopolize the gaming and entertainment market, which it already has almost achieved with the Blu-ray format. Only the future will tell how successful this strategy is.
