You are on the Earth sometimes in 2161, a ruined planet-turned-battleground, where players are able to destroy and manipulate the battlefield at any time with their weapons.
The new development named Fracture is LucasArts and Day 1 Studios' joint venture. A completely new IP is currently in development.

The story of the game takes place in the year 2161. You play the role as Mason Briggs, a demolitions expert for the Atlantic Alliance. There are two different groups fighting to come in power. The Atlantic Alliance, who relies on cybernetic enhancements and the Pacifican Army, are genetically enhanced.
The storyline is supposed to be the key feature in the new game. The technology used in the game is being called Terrain Deformation, which just like as it sounds, allows players to use their weapons to control the territory. A vortex-grenade and a rocket launcher are the perfect tools for carving out a tunnel into the ground, effectively.

With Terrain Deformation, LucasArts will be the first to feature the technology allowing players to reform their battles.
The game developer has announced Fracture for Summer 2008 release for the Xbox360 and PS3. Press release here.
