B3D’s Hiroshige Goto ponders upon the future aspect of next-gen gaming consoles and writes on the possibilities for cost reduction in all three next-gen gaming consoles. The analyst keeps Nintendo’s cheap gaming concept at the last position with saying that Wii has least chances of cost reduction as compared to Microsoft’s Xxbo360 and Sony’s PS3 consoles with HD graphics.
Pointing towards Xbox360 and PS3 hardware, he said that both the hardware possess possibility in price cut due to the semiconductor scaling with dwindle in dice to 65nm in 2007 and 45nm in 2009 that is approximately 1/4 to the existing size of dice, affecting significantly price thing. The contraction in dice will not only affect cost and size but processing speed as well. Another feature that will contribute considerably to the cost reduction issue is low expenses on cooling system due to low power intake resulting in lower heat evolution.

But he predicts the feeble chances for the cost reduction in case of Wii because it already has low cost hardware embedded inside it giving rise to least chances to the price hack.
As described previously that Wii could cost even lesser that its present cost but some components like NAND and few other pricy add-ons made it cost $250.
