‘Grand Theft Auto’ more relaxing than provoking: study

Asmita PrasadApr 5 2008

If a new study has to be believed, then your teenaged kids’ aggressive behavior has nothing to do with violent video games. Researchers at Manchester University have concluded that gamers who played supposedly 'provoking' video games like 'Halo' or 'Grand Theft Auto' for longer durations were more relaxed and not likely to be violent as is popularly believed. Middlesex University researchers found that 292 men and women players who played the popular multi-player online game World of Warcraft reported feeling calmer after two hours into the game than they had been at the start. Of course that doesn’t necessarily mean that your own 8th grader will react with a zen-inspirign smile if you decide to nag him about taking out the garbage after two hours of playing a violent video game!
