Greenpeace has been issuing its "Guide to Greener Electronics" since August 2006, a quarterly report grading tech companies on two vital standards: their enthusiasm to eradicate perilous materials from their products and responsibly recant and reprocess outmoded hardware. In its rankings, Nintendo scored only a derisory 0.3 out of 10 and earned the distinction of being the first global brand for not scoring a meager 1. The Wii maker, being at last place, doesn’t seem to be in ideal communion with the environment as per Greenpeace. On the contrary, Sony maintained to be number 1 on the list, scoring 7.3 out of 10.

Worsening the matter, its closest competitor Philips scored 4.3 while Microsoft improved it's score to 4.7. The only thing that goes in favor of Nintendo is their establishment of a Green Procurement Standard for Suppliers. Nintendo lingered to be the anomalous one out with no public document on toxics riddance or salvage. The company is “Partially Bad” on Chemicals Management, and “Bad” on rest.
