Last week we had a game modder from New Zealand in trouble for using the New Zealand Police’s insignia on GTA’s police cars. Now GTA trouble moves to the United states with the various parents associations crying foul over GTA-IV for apparently being too violent. For their part, the parents’ associations claim that the GTA-IV’s violent graphics will adversely affect minds of minors. But the puzzling fact is that most of those who are making these allegations haven’t even seen visuals of the GTA-IV which have been shrouded in secrecy. We do agree that game developers should introduce strict advisories clearly mentioning the age group deemed fit to play a particular game. But once they do that, it then becomes imperative for the parents to enforce that strictly in their homes rather than calling for stoppage of sales of the so-called violent games. All this hype and hullabaloo will only heighten the excitement and mystery surrounding the GTA-IV thus inadvertently promoting the game. In case you were unaware, April 29th is when Rockstar Games’ GTA-IV will finally hit game stores across the US of A.
