Megan Scott writes about how hip-hop artists are taking video game competition to a new level altogether. Gaming, which was once dominated by teenage nerds who lived in the arcade, playing games so much their thumbs hurt, have given way to the hip-hop generation.

Now 50 Cent has his own video game, fashion designer Marc Ecko has a graffiti game featuring the voice of rapper Talib Kweli and even filmmaker John Singleton has directed a game starring Snoop Dogg featuring a gang member being released from prison and forced back into the life.
On top of it, a new online Hip-Hop Gaming League is now going to allow viewers to watch hip-hop stars, such as Method Man and Twista, battle it out in a video game!
So what are we seeing? Do we see that ultimately the hip-hop culture overshadowing the gaming world? One question that arises in my mind now is that are we seeing gaming as a tool to further the hip-hop culture or is it the other way round?
Any ideas?
