The Indianapolis Star reports that despite the best efforts of Indiana State Senator Vi Simpson to introduce a bill dealing with violent video games, the unnumbered bill did not make it to be introduced on the senate floor.
The exact content of the bill was unknown pending a formal introduction. Whatever that might be, it is now clear that the bill now has no chance of receiving a hearing in the current legislative year.
It is speculated that the political partisanship is the key factor for the failure of the bill to be introduced, as most of the selected bills pegged for hearing on during the current legislative session were Republican-sponsored.
However, a face-saving explanation was being given saying the reason for the bill’s failure to be presented was due to a short legislative session ending on 14 March, allowing for only some of the 834 bills introduced by either Indiana’s House or Senate to receive hearings in their respective legislative bodies.
The criteria for choosing which bills made it to a vote are unclear, but the Indianapolis Star hints that political partisanship may have been a factor, as the majority of the selected bills to be heard on during the legislative session were Republican-sponsored.
Now that’s what we call a cool snub on the face of evil-doers scheming against the gaming industry with preposterous legislations. What do you say?
