X-Box, Wii, Playstation, DS, PSP, and now an iPhone goes gaming. I suppose this isn’t much of a surprise considering iPhone is one of the most popular phones out there. I would think it safe to say that 8 out of 10 of my friends have an iPhone or a variation of it.

According to pocket-lint, Canadian Developer IUGO was showing off a FPS called “Re-Volt” at Qualcomm’s BREW conference in San Diego. It was originally designed for the use of the latest LG handsets running Brew, the company has since used the “Accelerometer” in Apple’s iPhone to let users control movement without the requirement of keys.

To move through the levels, the gamer would tilt the phone forward, backward, or sideways while taping the screen to fire.

At this point in the development, the company is still deciding whether to release the game with a main-stream publisher or the application store. They are leaning more towards publishing it through the app store, which seems a better choice considering it would be much easier to access.

This is all great, but in all honestly who will have time to play a game on their phone? Other than the obvious times, waiting in line, sitting in your car waiting for fast food, but will you have time to play hours of gameplay?

For the price of the phone I’d much rather just buy a DS or PSP instead of buying the iPhone. I honestly think it is a waste of money to put a game, let alone an FPS, on an iPhone. You already spent a lot of money actually buying the phone why buy a game for it? I won’t deny, though, that it is a cool breakthrough for the iPhone itself and it seems a cool feature but it’s too soon to tell how it will all turn out.
