Get ready to bust some terrorists! Konami has announced that it will be soon bringing the 1999-relased arcade shooter Silent Scope to the App Store. The game will be released on the iPhone and iPod Touch and will see players reprise the role of a top sniper out to save the American First Family, which has been abducted by terrorists in Chicago. With the announcement Konami has once again reiterated its commitment to deliver quality on this gaming hotspot. Anthony Borquez, Vice President of Konami Mobile and Online voiced exactly this. He said:
With the release of Silent Scope on the iPhone and iPod touch, we’re substantiating our commitment to developing quality content that takes our top franchise titles and turns them into an on-the-go gaming experience.
When the game was originally released, all was rage about the sniper gun mounted to the arcade machine. That of course won’t be happening on the iPhone. Instead, multi-touch capabilities would be put to good use, with player being asked to tap-to-shoot; much like the recent Metal Gear Solid Touch. Silent Scope will feature the Training and the Arcade mode. Latter features variable difficulty levels and three types of gameplay: Story, Shooting Range and Time Attack. As regards price or date, we only have the “coming soon” tag.
