The success of Mercenaries 2 has been eclipsed by launch delay as EA has recently informed that the game launch is deferred until next year. Previously, the game was slated for this year launch. Evidently, political measures have obstructed title’s trouble-free launch.
The game has been criticized by the Venezuelan government, accusing the U.S. government and Pandemic Studios of trying to propagate support from the American public for a real-life invasion with the purpose of ousting Hugo Chavez. Shoot’em-up genre that simulates South American invasion in Venezuela after a tyrant interferes with the country’s oil supply is sarcastically on target of Venezuelan lawmakers as they fear Mercenaries 2 is an influenced propaganda of US government to justify a real conflict with the nation to possibly throw out Venezuelan President Chavez.
Caustic comment of Venezuelan congressional representative & supporter of Mr Chavez, Ismael Garcia on Mercenaries 2:
I think the US government knows how to prepare campaigns of psychological terror so they can make things happen later.
Already conversed several times, simulation is a work of creativity that really deserves applauds; exploiting it for personal means is a sign of sheer boob absurdity.
Whatsoever, ‘oil mess’ is drying up resource of great deal pleasure associated with animatronics.

Pandemic Studios’ Mercenaries 2 is a multiplatform game that will see its delayed launch in early 2008 on PC, Xbox360, PS2, and PS3.
