The software giant Microsoft has announced that pondering upon the sale of its next-gen console Xbox360 sale; it has decided to chop down the production cost of Xbox 360 by around huge 40%. The market analyzer iSuppli's report, the Premium package of Xbox 360 holding HD drive truly and other hardware components cost them $323.30. The cost mentioned above is an approximation on the basis of present cost of console.

However the existing retail price of the console is $399 and if we compare the existing price with reduced one then there lies a huge difference of $75.70.
If we look the initiative from market point of view then it's really a good move that is going to work for Microsoft during holiday season, since recently two or three fays ago Nintendo has also liberated its gladiator (Wii) in the great gaming arena and Wii is the only contender in the Xbox 360 midway who can create a friction to the Xbox 360's sale. PS3 is far behind in price race because PS3 comes with quite hefty price of $499 and $599.
I think you remember that 10 million consoles will be produced by the end of this year and already Microsoft has bagged a huge loss of $485 million last financial year but it improved a bit and succeeded to eliminate it to $388 millions till March 2006. And now the procession is on and giant is on the way of escalation that why it has made such a significant announcement and no doubt it will help Xbox 360 to sell like a hot cake.
