
Microsoft has announced new features for Windows Live Games at the San Francisco annual Game Developers Conference. These features are currently in development and as per Microsoft these will turn Games for Windows Live as a leading online PC gaming network. Announced features are piracy protection, cloud saves and in-game marketplace. Games for Windows – Live is an online gaming service and community for “Games for Windows” labeled PC games. It allows users to connect their PCs to network in order to track their friends’ status, send and receive messages, voice chat etc. Halo 2 was the first game to be launched under the “Games for Windows” label and since then several other have been added to the list.
As an attempt to discourage piracy, Microsoft has announced a new Anti-piracy Solution to prevent pre-release piracy leaks and to protect customers and publishers by requiring authentication for online play. In-game Marketplace is a new API that will allow developers to create in-game stores providing them with new ways of earning and enhanced life like experience for users. Best among these is a new cloud save feature. It will allow players to save their personal setting on their Games for Windows – LIVE account.
