Microsoft lawsuits Immersion for contract infringement

Microsoft has sued the rumble technology developer Immersion for not following the contract between both the companies that settled a lawsuit originally filed by Immersion towards the software giant for a patent-infringement, back in 2003. Both the lawsuits filed agonist one another are reciprocal to each other. Facing a counterattack, Immersion is facing the lawsuit from Microsoft for certain business and IP licensing arrangements that it (Immersion) has condemned and now includes a provision seeking Immersion to pay Microsoft.

Back in 2003, Microsoft settled down the suit for paying Immersion $26 million, and now with Microsoft’s lawsuit against Immersion has perked a vengeance game.

Though, what do these business and IP licensing arrangements mean is unknown but certainly signifies some mischief done by Immersion so Microsoft has drawn the company to the lawyers’ desk.

Steve Aeschbacher, Microsoft Associate General Counsel:

We entered into a binding licensing agreement with Immersion and are seeking to have that agreement honored. Microsoft licenses technology both in and out and relies on these agreements to be honored and enforced. Our request to the court is that all companies and industry partners should play by the same rules and that the binding agreement we signed with Immersion be honored.

The friction developed between two companies could turn as a big threat to the gaming industry, so hope both the companies would settle down the suit, soon.
