microsoft cuts xbox uk price

In order to keep up its pace in the console wars, Microsoft recently cut its prices for the Xbox 360 in Europe. Form March 14, The 20 GB variant will cost 270 euros against its old price of 350 euros. In the UK, the entry level console, the Xbox 360 Arcade will cost £159.99 against its previous price £199.99 (which means it now cost lesser than the Nintendo Wii) while the 20 GB Xbox 360 Premium, will cost £199.99 instead of £249.99 and the Xbox 360 Elite with 120GB hard drive, will retail for £259.99 rather than £299.99. Microsoft believes that with the price cut, it will attract more casual gamers to buy the console since there has been a proven track record of audiences in the £159.99 segment constantly expanding. Although widely popular in the US and the UK, the Xbox 360 didn’t quite appeal to audiences other places like Japan, where Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii recorded more sales than the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 had an advantage of an early launch in 2005 but still in recent times has not been able to keep up with its competition. Microsoft strongly believes that with this price cut, the Xbox 360 will be back in the race with a bang.
