Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon on future of gaming

Mortal Kombat creator Ed BoonThe creator of Mortal Kombat Ed Boon has given an interview to Game Informer (GI) Magazine's February issue where he discusses the future of gaming amongst many things.

On being asked on the next-gen fighting games, Ed says;

You know, you can add smart AI and stuff like that but it's always more fun to play against real people and the only way to really get that experience all of the time is online. If you want to play at three in the morning, your friend is not going to come over at that hour, so you play online.

On being asked what he thinks about Xbox Live and Xbox 360 and what that could do for him and how Ed and company implement online play, he said;

I have a ton of ideas and I definitely want to do as many community features a possible. Whether it's finding people or virtual world's maybe that you run around and you have that method of connecting up with people. I'd like the world to be more of an immersive thing. Something like a 3D world you exist in and interact with as opposed to just menus.

He also said that there would be more from the Shaolin Monks franchise, however the name won't remain Shaolin Monks anymore.

Well, it seems Ed has many things up in his mind working now and I guess there are many things going on in the studios as well. A guy like him can never sit still.
