Motion-capture technology has found itself in the studios of 3-D animators since the 1980s. And current researchers are trying to include it into the gaming world to make every gaming action emanate from the gamer. This is exactly what the Manhattan-based company Organic Motion is trying to develop.
For the computer to sense the motion of a human being in real time, it means that the person in motion should don a not-so-comfortable latex suit with markers that the video cameras of the computer could read. This means a gamer can give some real punch (albeit by knocking on the air) on the face of his enemy, while on a rescue mission without the joystick of the gaming consoles!
The gamer’s efficiency will depend on his or her ability to manipulate the gaming controllers. The next-Gen gaming consoles, it seems, will require only camera, sensors and latex suits with markers and some experience in the actual game.
