Long anticipation breaks on 11th and 19th of Nov. this month when Sony and Nintendo made their much awaited next-gen consoles public with great pomp. The consoles are doing well until now. The developers are continuing on the way of exploration to find next innovation that could add mew means to old technology.

The console manufacturers have exploited the motion sensation to the remote controllers of consoles to provide gamers real simulation in games at an affordable price, as you can see in both cases; PS3 and Wii controllers. The Wii-mote gives extremely real simulation during gameplay like Wii Tennis, Baseball or any sword simulated game. The remote detects all the moves done by you and your character moves in same way as you want to blend it. Benedetto Vigna, chief of STMicroelectronics NV, the developer who designs motion-sensing chips for Wii-motes reveals how the whole phenomenon works. He says that the controller contains two very fine, flat pieces of silicon embedded inside the controller each with a negligible weight tied against silicon springs that help[s them hold in right place. The whole setup detects even a small movement and to detect such a negligible movement, a charge is placed between the silicon slides and neighboring sensors. The detector perceives the alteration in charge and transports it to chip that converts it into actions.
The sensor system deployed inside can distinguish the motion in all three directions via the weights with a set of springs pinned with them to detect different motions like back and forth or up and down.

Sixaxis remote controller designed for Sony’s PS3 works similarly, as the name defines the etymology; six axises: three dimensions of space and three rotation axes. The difference lies in infrared camera seized inside Wii remote that PS3 controller doesn’t contain. The camera employed inside detects the signals emitted from sensor bar and then a perfect correlation between remote signals and display screen leads to a wonderful gameplay.
Actually the concept called Accelerometers is used in missiles and aircrafts to detect the acute location of objects after being launched in space. With the passage of time the technology has become a bit economic.
The cell phone industry as well is considerate about the same phenomenon to incorporate the technology in cell phones to make them more efficient box to use as game controller, pedometer or interface and voicemail administrator.
