Yesterday, I made a posting on a possible portable device by Microsoft in the offing. Though it is still in rumour stage with official confirmation from MS being awaited, the blogosphere is already suggesting (and debating) what should be in it and what not.
I came across this interesting piece where Omar Ganai discussed six things that needs to be in it (that is if at all MS is coming up with a portable gaming device).
It lists the following:
1. A large screen; perhaps larger than the PSP
2. A hard drive of more than 60 GB to store your music, personal videos and games of course
3. Xbox Live! Absolute smash hit and the main reason for success of the Xbox
4. Interconnectivity between Media Center PC, Xbox 360 the possible portable device to be able to download the music from MSN or possibly videos in the future, and share them between the three! Great idea!
5. Long battery life in excess of 10 hours
6. Price should be less than USD 299 because if the price is right then Apple iPod, Nintendo DS and Sony PSP will be really feeling the heat.
In addition to the above that I fully agree with, there should be a few killer apps too. I mean if it can support most of the games that Xbox and Xbox 360 supports. Xbox 360 doesn’t have a great backwards compatibility. So if the new device supports a few of them, maybe it may prove to be an instant hit.
I would like some more of your suggestions.
Thank you Omar.
Please read his post for all the reasons he gave for the above suggestions.
MS portable device: Suggestions coming in even as official confirmation awaited!

Doh! Forgot about the ”killer app” games. Of course...how I could miss that? :)
