Namco planning a 30th anniversary Pac-Man release

Can you believe that it’s been 29 years since the first release of Pac-Man? This title is one of the oldest classics that are still played around the globe and in order to celebrate 30th anniversary years of the legendary Pac-Man, Namco wants to bring the classic back and is planning a new Pac-Man game for next year. In the year 2010 our old friend Pac-Man will turn 30, and it would be back in a new avatar promised by Namco, which has teamed up with Hirokazu Yasuhara (former designer, Sonic Team and Naughty Dog). As a group, we feel like we should do something to make him come back. So, there's one project that we started working on, and [Yasuhara is] part of it.

He added that the game is under development by North American development studio. This studio has split multiple teams for development and one of them is working with Yasuhara. This is not the first iteration of Pac-Man, there have been plenty (actually, more than plenty). Last one was released in 2007 for the Xbox Live Arcade in 2007. Pac-Man Championship Edition was developed by original Pac-Man creator Toru Iwatani; it was last game by him. We don’t know how this will shape up but it better be good.
