VROOM VROOM VROOM VROOOOM!!! Car races aplenty in Herbie: Rescue Rally, a new game launched by Disney Interactive Studios featuring Herbie the car. The Volkswagen Beetle has been a star, since 1969, starring in the movies ‘Love Bug‘, ‘Herbie Rides Again’, ‘Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo’, ‘Herbie Goes Bananas’ and most recently in ‘Herbie Fully Loaded’.
In this game, an animal sanctuary has to be protected from being destroyed by the wicked E. Vile Corporation. The Corporation is planning to set up a toxic chemical factory in the sanctuary premises. As Louise Noble, the owner of the sanctuary, you have to drive Herbie to victory in the Cross States Rally and in the process race past Herman, the E. Vile Corporation vehicle. To emerge victorious and therefore prevent the animal sanctuary from destruction you have to race in very hostile terrain.
Main features of the game include:
- ‘Herbie Moments‘ - an option that will help you race up walls, jump over obstacles, drive in circles and so on. To enable this option you have to fill up the Love Bug’s ‘Happy Meter‘.
- Wireless Multiplayer Mode - you can race with up to 3 co-players and under this option use 2 power-ups .
- You can accumulate and employ over 5 power-ups one of which is the Mud Slick that will enable you to send your opponents’ car spinning.
- There are 16 races in 4 diverse regions - Race Track, Desert, Mountain and City.
- You have the option of using the Touch Screen and microphone that will help you use the power-ups to greater advantage.
Craig Relyea, vice president of marketing, Disney Interactive Studios, had this to say:
