Nintendo has not made an official announcement as yet but we are prepared to take Nikkei’s word; especially if it holds so much promise! Japanese business daily Nikkei has reported and it has been transcribed by Reuters, that Nintendo will be launching a new DS by the end of 2008. Nikkei reports that the new model will have, among others, music-support, a built-in camera, and advanced wireless features. Given this, we can always guess the presence of either an internal memory or a card slot. Such changes would pit DS against gizmos like cell phones with gaming features, and perhaps even iPhone. The cost of the new DS-avatar is expected to be less than 20,000 yen ($189). DS has sold over 77 million units worldwide since its release nearly four years ago, but one would expect a revamp somewhere down the line; more so after new announcements by rivals, and a strong showing in recent months by PSP. Okay so here’s the deal: Tokyo Game Show kicks off in a week or so, you keep your ears open for any major announcement from Nintendo and in return you can have nights of blissful expectation.

If you look around you’ll see many deals for the current Nintendo DS Lite - could this be a subtle move to shift current stock to make room for the new one?
The following site has some good deals - some as low as £72!!

The new DS looks crazy, but I feel left behind like when the Nintendo SP was announced.
I’m just going to be holding back on the whole upgrade craze, and stick with my Pink DS Lite and my 2GB MP3 :)
