What a neat idea. It’s a great addition to the Wii’s already big “Ways to use” list. The DS can now be used for informational purposes as well as gaming. They are testing the DS with “hook-ups” in the Japanese McDonalds and Tsukuba Express stations. In the express stations you are able to access things like news, weather, and the Tsukuba transfer guide. This will all be run through Wi-Fi, if that wasn’t already obvious.
I honestly think this should have been done a long time ago because this is something that a lot of people can have on the go. They wake up in the morning take a quick shower and are out the door. It’s an easy way when you are on the train to hookup and check the news and weather for the day. Same goes with McDonalds, hookup and get a review of the world in a matter of moments. But what really puts the icing on the cake is the fact that it’s for no charge!
At this stage in the process, they are currently recruiting people to evaluate the service provided through the test.
I, for one, cannot wait for this product to come to the US. It will definitely be a plus for the Nintendo DS.
