
Here is good news for Nintendo, as this week Nintendo of America has recorded number of sales in its first shopping week in the United States. Nintendo of America announced that the company has sold more than 653,000 Nintendo DS units along with another 350,000 Wiis home systems and million of games and other accessories throughout the United States.
Nintendo DS set a new all-time sales record for Thanksgiving week and eclipsing the previous mark of 600,000 Game Boy Advance systems sold during the same period in the United States in 2005. Nintendo DS has maintained the track-record of the top-selling video game system in 2007.
The sales of Nintendo Wii has reached 5 million in the United States than any other video game system in history, after only 12 months of availability in the market. Although Nintendo has boosted Wii production to about 1.8 million per month but shortages still persist and customers looking for a Wii have to look hard and often. So far, the company has already sold 5.5 million Wiis in the US and expecting to sell 17.5 million Wiis worldwide in this fiscal year ending March 31, 2008.
George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications stated that, Nintendo Wii is something, which can be used by the entire family. The device offers the most fun video game experiences at the most affordable price.
