Gaming giants are going full throttle to make sure that they make as much profit as they can this holiday season. But it seems gaming fanatics have gone one step further and are making life of those big companies a tad bit more difficult than they thought it would be. Nintendo Wii is the hottest selling gaming console right now in the market and it has beaten Sony’s Playstation 3 by a mile. But the makers of Nintendo Wii are now facing a sweet problem; the problem of more demand than supply.
Nintendo has promised its buyers that they are doing everything within their power to meet the demand of this holiday season rush. But gaming consoles are just not available enough in the market at the moment. Online sites like eBay are ripping off bidders by putting the console sets for sale. While it is hard to blame the sites, it is just the buyers who want to have one at any cost. This mad rush has led to the price of the Nintendo Wii sky rocketing on many online sites.
But Nintendo have acted very wisely and have made sure that the interests of their own company and more importantly those of their customers are held high. Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime revealed a plan in which the company has partnered with GameStop to distribute rain check certificates. Consumers can buy a certificate on December 20th and 21st for the full price of the Wii system, securing a system for pick-up in January. Now this is indeed a very wise strategy to safe guard the interests of everyone involved in the deal.
So what is the fun in getting a console this January, you ask? Well, for starters the company is right when they say that at least you can put the certificate under the Christmas tree. That sure is going to light up the face of the one you are buying it for. Secondly, it is the anticipation that would make it more special. Apart from all this Nintendo say that his weekend, six retailers including Target, Best Buy, and Circuit City will have mass Wii shipments.
So do not rush out and spend a premium amount for your Nintendo Wii. Sure you are anxious to get one, but just wait and you can put that extra cash to better use. This is really nice of the company to make a statement in this regard, which would save money for plenty of buyers. Yes, they want to make money, but still it shows that the company cares for its market and that is a quality which will help them stay on top.
