Video gaming is gaining momentum. I am not talking about its acceptance to the world. Rather, its recognition to the mainstream business media and consultancies, now that they are looking at it with fresh interest. It'9s no more a segment for sporting nerds. It's mainstream and there is no one demographic segment left out who can not be a potential to the business called gaming.
On line gaming has been experiencing some stupendous rate of curve over the last few years. San Diego, Calif.-based DFC Intelligence research anticipates that the online gaming segment will reach $6.8 billion in sales by 2011. The survey finds out worldwide online game subscription revenue ahs grown 43 percent to $2 billion in 2005.
So-called massively multiplayer online games, such as the "World of Warcraft," accounted for more than half of the subscription sales in 2005 while one-fifth came from casual games. The remainder was split among sports, strategy, first-person shooter and children's games.
