Pain delivered online, Smack Pack on the way

There are certain people (and I won’t name names) who were crying out for Pain to be endowed with an online mode. This is exactly what the developers have done, as testified by Jason Coker’s post on PS blog; Coker is the Associate Producer of Pain. Idol Minds has worked strenuously and created a patch that takes all the multi-player options form within the game to on online mode, supported, of course, with text and voice-chat. The patch is free and is available for download starting yesterday.

Jason’s post has also spelled out some tasty details about the DLC that Pain is about to receive. The Smack Pack will be a priced add-on, bringing Darts and Fortress game modes to Pain. In the Darts mode players would be required to haul themselves, grabbing other characters and bombs on the way, towards a giant sticky dartboard. While doing so they’d have to negotiate through a maze of distractions planted by their opponents. Smack Pack’s Fortress mode will pit player against three opponents, each provided with a giant floating fortress. Player’s aim is to inflict maximum damage on the opponent’s fortress and eliminate him by reducing his score to zero. These two modes will work in offline mode as well.

Now when Smack Pack would actually be released I’m not too sure. Let me quote Jason:

We’re about to drop the Smack Pack on you…

That “about” could take a long time if some people stop pestering guys on the Pain team. So keep those mails coming.
