Most of us know about Tivo and other digital video recording units, right? Well get ready for a similar version geared towards PS3 fans. Sony will be launching their new digital Freeview PVR unit called PlayTV for your TV and PSP. This unit allows for users to play, record, fast forward, rewind live telivision and then allow you to watch it via your TV or PSP. The unit also supports some very cool additions features such as being able to record while watching another program, playing your Playstation 3 and much more. There are also rumours that you will be able to transfer your recorded shows to the PS3 XMB and then have it transferred to a memory card for instant portability. There are a lot more cool features included, and you can check them out here. The unit hits store shelves on the 19th of September for £69.99. However it will only be available in the United Kingdom.

I personally like what Sony did here because they included some cooler features that what Tivo might offer such as being able to multi-task gaming and recording. It’s also great that you can transfer shows to your PSP. I know a lot of you out there watch movies on the go, and I think this would be really convenient. Let’s just hope that Sony decides to extend it’s market to the US as well as in other Eastern territories.
