pes-2009_OGdWQ_17839Konami has announced that yet another installment of the Pro Evolution Series will be hitting stores this autumn. PES 2009 will be made available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, PS2 and PSP. Konami has also pointed out that the new game is packed with new additions, which should help bring the game closer to reality. Their last installment wasn’t their best work. It was rushed and not done up to standards. We hope that this new installment could change things for Konami. They were very proud in saying this new series was a big step above the others. Jon Murphy, PES Project Leader for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH, says,

Similarly, all-new options allow users to tailor the game to their own tastes, while new moves, innovative new control elements and key online elements will further the realism of the new game.

The publishers believe this game will surprise people with its level of increased realism and loads of additional features.

In my opinion, this does look like a step above the 2008 edition of PES. Hopefully the host of new gaming features does bring back support to the series, since the last one was not so well received. However, the game is still a step behind EA’s FIFA series. I am an EA FIFA series player, and think Konami still need to focus more on visuals since it still isn’t up to par with today’s industry standards.

As for game play, we just have to wait till autumn to try it out. Hopefully, it will be a cut above the older editions.
