I have been reading an article with some interest about games and Christianity. It talks about the figures of Christians in America (75%) and the gamers (50%). So combination these two of a few factors like average age of gamers (30 yrs), length of time they had been gaming (12 yrs) and recent stats about gamers and gaming (19% of those over 50 yrs old played games) shows that a significant percentage of American gamers are actively religious.

The article asks how does this fit in with the 5th Commandment that says 'Thou shall not kill'? Or, for that matter the Garden of Gethsemane scene in the gospel of Matthew, where Jesus instructs the Roman soldiers: 'For all who take the sword will perish by the sword'?
On this Kedrick Kenerly, founder of Christian Gamers Online (+CGO+) says;
We view games as just games. They all boil down to a few things: They have a goal, they have a reward for the goal, and they have a set of rules that need to be followed to reach the goal. The violence in most games isn't something we get worked up about. It's merely 'presentation,' simply a way to convey an experience to players so they can follow the rules to reach the goal. Abstract games like checkers, chess, and Monopoly operate in the same fashion and they merely employ different presentation methods.What an argument!
In my opinion, this is a very shallow argument on part of +CGO+. It only goes on to show that laws religious or for that matter any laws can be interpreted in a way that suits the comfort levels of individuals, groups or societies. When it comes to temptation and addiction, even God can't stop anyone from going ahead.
This is where the Devil beats God hands down!
